As a nonprofit, accredited institution of higher education, AUG Global Campus is committed to transparency, academic integrity, and compliance with international best practices in education. While AUG does not participate in U.S. Title IV federal financial aid programs, we believe students have the right to understand key policies, procedures, and resources related to their academic journey.

Accreditation and Legal Status

The American University of Greece (AUG) Global Campus is a nonprofit institution of higher education, authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to confer undergraduate and graduate degrees. AUG operates as an affiliated entity of The American College of Greece (ACG), which has delivered educational programs in Greece since 1923. 

In 2022, AUG was approved by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to grant degrees for studies completed at ACG in Athens and to offer fully online degree programs. In 2023, AUG received institutional accreditation from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), succeeding ACG’s continuous NECHE accreditation since 1981. 

AUG Global Campus is based in Athens, Greece, and is considered a foreign institution by the U.S. Department of Education. Accordingly, our programs are not eligible for U.S. federal financial aid under Title IV. However, our programs meet the rigorous standards of regional accreditation and provide students worldwide with flexible, high-quality online learning experiences. 

State Authorization for Distance Education

The American University of Greece (AUG) Global Campus is committed to meeting all state authorization requirements to offer online degree programs to students residing in the United States. 

AUG Global Campus is authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to grant undergraduate and graduate degrees and is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Our fully online programs are offered worldwide, with no in-person, clinical, or field placement components required for completion. 

As an institution based in Athens, Greece, AUG Global Campus is considered a foreign institution by the U.S. Department of Education and is not eligible to participate in Title IV federal financial aid programs. AUG Global Campus is not a participant in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). 

We are actively pursuing the necessary approvals and exemptions in individual U.S. states and territories to ensure that we can serve students in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Authorization requirements vary by state, and enrollment eligibility is subject to state-specific determinations.

As our authorization status evolves, we will update this page to reflect states where we are authorized to enroll students.

Privacy and Data Protection

The American University of Greece Global Campus (AUGGC) is committed to safeguarding the privacy and personal data of all students, applicants, faculty, and stakeholders in compliance with U.S. federal regulations, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as applicable international data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The AUGGC collects and processes personal data solely for legitimate educational and administrative purposes, such as admissions, academic records, communications, and support services. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Student Rights: Access, Privacy & Control

  • Under FERPA and GDPR, students enrolled at AUGGC have the right to:
  • Access their personal and educational records
  • Request corrections to inaccurate or outdated information
  • Restrict disclosure of personal information, including opting out of directory listings
  • Request the deletion of personal data, subject to legal and academic record-keeping requirements
  • Be informed about how their data is used and stored

The AUGGC implements robust physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. Access to student information is strictly limited to authorized personnel.

Technology Requirements and Accessibility

Each program at The American University of Greece Global Online Campus has different technological requirements. Please see the program page for more information,

Transfer Credit and Credit Recognition

Please refer to our current Academic Catalog for policies for accepting transfer credit and information regarding how credits may or may not transfer to other institutions.

Language Proficiency Requirements

The American University of Greece (AUG) Global Campus delivers all programs in English. To ensure student success in an online learning environment, applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following pathways:

1. Standardized English Language Tests

Applicants may submit official test scores meeting or exceeding the following minimum requirements:

  • TOEFL iBT: 87
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test: 125
  • PTE Academic: 59
  • Cambridge/Michigan/MSU English: Proficiency
  • Official test scores must be no more than two years old.

2. Previous Education in English

Applicants may be exempt from submitting test scores if they have completed:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution where English was the primary language of instruction.
  • At least two years of full-time secondary or postsecondary education in an English-speaking country or an institution where English is the primary language of instruction.
  • Applicants must provide official transcripts and, if necessary, documentation from the institution confirming English as the language of instruction.

3. Workplace Experience in an English-Speaking Environment

Applicants who have worked in an English-speaking professional setting for three or more years may submit:

  • A letter from their employer verifying their role and confirming English proficiency in professional communication.
  • A resume highlighting English-language experience in professional settings.
  • A personal statement describing how they have used English in their work and daily interactions.

Additional Considerations:

AUG Global Campus reserves the right to request an interview to further assess English proficiency.
Applicants who have completed international curricula such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or British A-Levels in English may also qualify for an exemption.
For applicants who do not meet the minimum scores but are close, a case-by-case review may be conducted, particularly for those with strong academic backgrounds.

Non-Participation in Federal Financial Aid

The American University of Greece Global Campus (AUGGC) is a U.S.-based institution accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (MBHE). While our programs meet rigorous academic standards and are globally recognized, AUGGC does not currently participate in U.S. federal financial aid programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act.

What This Means for Students:

  • AUGGC students are not eligible to receive federal student loans, Pell Grants, or other forms of Title IV financial assistance.
  • Students may explore private education loans, employer reimbursement, payment plans, or scholarships offered directly by AUGGC.
  • Students using VA education benefits or 529 plans should consult with a financial advisor to determine eligibility.

Right to Cancel/Withdrawal Program Closure Policies

The American University of Greece (AUG) Global Campus is committed to providing an excellent educational experience and responsive student support. If you have a concern or complaint, we encourage you to seek resolution through our internal processes first. 

Step 1: Attempt Informal Resolution 
Students are encouraged to address concerns directly with the relevant office, department, or faculty member to resolve the matter informally, whenever possible. 

Step 2: Submit a Formal Complaint 
If your concern is not resolved informally, you may submit a formal complaint in writing to the AUG Global Campus Office of Online Student Support and Partnerships.

  • Your full name and contact information 
  • Description of the concern or complaint 
  • Relevant dates, course names, or individuals involved 
  • Any supporting documentation

We are committed to reviewing and responding to all formal complaints promptly and fairly. 

Step 3: External Complaint Resolution (If Needed) 
If your concern is not satisfactorily resolved through our internal process, you may direct your complaint to the appropriate external agency.

AUG Global Campus takes all student concerns seriously. We strive to resolve complaints at the institutional level whenever possible. Should you choose to pursue an external resolution, please note that external agencies generally require that you first exhaust the institution's internal grievance procedures before submitting a complaint.
