Why Choose The AUG Global Campus?

  • Flexible Learning for Busy Professionals

Our online programs are designed with working students in mind, offering flexibility, smaller class sizes and individual attention, as well as a student-centered approach that allows you to balance your studies with your professional and personal commitments.

  • Value

Compared with other, fully U.S.-accredited online programs, AUG’s degree and certificate offerings present a remarkable value, often providing access to the same degree for less than 50% of what other universities offer.

  • A Continuously Expanding Portfolio

The AUG Global Campus is dedicated to growth, with an expanding range of online programs across numerous fields. New degree and certificate offerings are regularly added to ensure you have access to the latest academic and professional fields, keeping your education relevant and forward -thinking.

  • A Global Network

Join a diverse, international community of learners and educators who share a passion for knowledge, growth, and career advancement. Whether you're looking to advance your current career or explore new opportunities, AUG provides the tools and skills you need to succeed.

  • Academic Excellence Meets Real-World Relevance

At AUG, we combine academic rigor and attention to theory with practical skills and real-world application, offering programs that equip you with the expertise and competencies required to thrive in today’s fast-paced, global job market.

  • Dual Credibility

AUG’s NECHE accreditation and degree-granting authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, as well as its Hellenic heritage and partnerships in Greece, mean that as a U.S. degree-granting institution we provide dual credibility in both American and international higher education markets.

History and Mission

The American University of Greece (AUG) represents an exciting new chapter in a nearly 150 -year tradition of educational excellence established by AUG’s partner, The American College of Greece (ACG)—Europe’s oldest and largest U.S.-accredited institution of higher education.

Founded by American missionaries in 1875 in Smyrna (now Izmir), Asia Minor, ACG relocated to Athens in 1923 and has since served generations of students through its commitment to academic quality, global citizenship, and service to others. ACG has been continuously accredited by the New England
Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) since 1981—a mark of excellence recognized around the world.

Building on this strong foundation, AUG was established in 2021 as a nonprofit institution based in Boston, Massachusetts, and is fully authorized by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education to award undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 2023, AUG received institutional accreditation from NECHE, further affirming its quality and mission alignment.

AUG operates AUG Global Campus, which offers fully online, American-accredited degree programs designed for students in the U.S. and globally who seek flexibility without compromising academic rigor. UG also serves as the official U.S. degree-granting body for programs delivered on the ACG campus Athens, through a validating agreement that ensures consistency in academic standards. While ACG continues to deliver face-to-face education in Greece through Deree (undergraduate and graduate programs), the Alba Graduate Business School, and Pierce (pre-K through grade 12), AUG focuses on expanding access to high-quality online learning. Together, the two institutions—independent but mission-aligned—serve diverse learners through a shared commitment to transformative education.

With its roots in a proud history and its eyes on the future, The American University of Greece is helping lead the way in creating innovative, accessible, and globally relevant learning opportunities for the next generation of students.
